Landmark District Resources
The Pasadena portion of the Historic Highlands Neighborhood Association is a formal Landmark District, titled the “Historic Highlands” (see “Altadena Historic Highlands Proposal” in Current Events page). As such, any improvements/alterations/changes to the exterior, including demolition to the structure and new construction, must be approved by the City. Landmark District designation requires any changes to the exterior must be “period-appropriate.”
If you are planning to make changes to the exterior of your home, you are required to obtain a Certificate of Appropriateness, and a building permit.
