Historic Highlands Landmark Status
After 2 years of work, and a lot of persistence on the part of many volunteers,
more than 60% of the Pasadena residents of Historic Highlands have signed the
petition to apply for the neighborhood to be designated a landmark district.  The
process of assembling and checking all of the documentation to accompany the
petition and the application is now complete and submitted to the city.

On October 1, 2007 the Historic Preservation Commission approved that the
proposed Historic Highlands Landmark District met the criteria for designation as
a landmark district, and recommended that the Planning Commission and City
Council approve the Historic Highlands Landmark District designation and
overlay zone.  The Planning Commission met October 24, 2007 and approved a
Zoning Map Amendment to designate the properties represented as a Landmark
District.  The Pasadena City Council met December 3rd, 2007 and unanimously
approved Historic Highlands Neighborhood as a Landmark District.  The City
should be mailing Landmark District information to all residents in the Landmark
District sometime in January-February 2008.
