January 26, 2017
Dear Residents and Neighbors of the HHNA,
First and foremost on behalf of the Historic Highlands Neighborhood Association Board we wish you all a belated “Happy New Year”.
This evening we will hold our Bi-Annual General Meeting and our annual “Election of Officers” at The Santa Catalina Library at 6:30 PM. All are invited.
My Co-President Anne Leach and I would like to take this moment to thank our fellow board and committee members for their invaluable time and efforts in making our neighborhood a better place to live. As we depart this office we say “Thank You” to Nancy Gerber, Vice President. Kathleen Wood, Treasurer. Carolina Romo, Secretary. Jama Meyer, Communications. Bridgid Fennell and Marc Reusser, Historic Preservation. Clint Palmer, Triangle Maintenance, David Anderson and Robert Bullock, Altadena Representative. Jobs well done.
We would also like to thank and give adulation to those whom volunteered and led our Historic Home Tour 2015 as well as our annual July 4th Parades. Heidi Rous and Nancy Gerber, HHNA Home Tour 2015. Andy and Claudia Splichal, Trish Pengra, Bill Loesch for their work in organizing our July 4th Parades.
“Thank You” to neighbor and Council Member Margaret McAustin and District 2 Filed Representative Margo Morales for their continued support of our association by graciously giving their time when called upon.
Anne and I would also like to reflect upon and acknowledge the invaluable work and dedication provided to us by neighbor Bryan Bowen. In his memory, we will always hold an “Honorary” position for him here in the Highlands. He will be forever missed.
With that, we would like to say that serving as C0-Presidents was certainly a great experience. We leave HHNA with a strong fiscal balance sheet and are proud to have presided over the building of the new Historic Highlands website, adding a board position to the HHNA that represents our Altadena neighbors and being able to return after a seven year absence the “Historic Highlands Home Tour” in 2015, which was such a traditional event for this neighborhood for so many years.
Anne will continue on board heading the “Welcome Committee” and I will stay on with my role as “Film Liaison” in which I look forward to being able to spend more time on working with neighbors, the City of Pasadena and Los Angeles County.
To a great 2017, and a parting word, VOLUNTEER! Your neighborhood needs you!
Jeffrey Thurnher & Anne Leach, HHNA Co-Presidents
